I don’t think you become a different person but rather an improved version of yourself. Training makes us better. For example, by taking writing classes and working at improving my writing I become a better writer and actually learn how to better express my own thoughts and ideas.

Point taken. I do kind of agree with you. I suppose I like the idea of "different" to encourage people to not limit themselves to what they are now.
